Youtube gets a new hashtag landing page that allows users to look up videos easily.

This feature will significantly broaden the chances of users finding niche videos. Google announced the arrival of this feature through a community post.

Youtube has rolled out a new feature that will allow users to discover videos with ease. The company has added a hashtag landing page that will help users to search for videos effortlessly. The feature is available on desktop and Youtube apps. This feature will significantly broaden the chances of users finding niche videos. Google announced the arrival of this feature through a community post this week.

What led to the addition of the Hashtag landing page?

Hashtags are everywhere. From Facebook to Twitter, hashtags facilitate smooth navigation around the platform. All you have to do is look up a certain topic on these platforms, and you will be shown hundreds of thousands of search results.

Now Youtube is following their footsteps with its hashtag landing page. Of course, hashtags are present on Youtube, but the addition of the landing page will now make the process of searching for a specific video hassle-free.

Hashtags on Youtube before the change

Creators on Youtube make use of hashtags to make their content more relevant and accessible to users. They add hashtags to their content so that users can find their videos if they search for a related or similar topic on Youtube. Before the addition of the hashtag landing page, Youtube would display all videos with that hashtag and a bunch of videos related to the hashtag.

This reduced the chances of users finding what they were looking for, as these results would be pretty inaccurate. The relevant content would be buried between unimportant content.

How does the hashtag landing page work?

There are two fairly simple ways users can use hashtags to look for videos.

  • Users can use the URL youtube.com/hashtag/(topic) to look up videos relating to that topic. After this, users will be taken to a landing page where the appropriate search results will be displayed.
  • Users can also click on a hashtag to see more videos related to it. Once you click on a hashtag, it will take you to the landing page with the search results.

The landing page displays the total number of videos and the number of channels that used the hashtag at the top of the page. It is worth noting that Youtube is currently displaying videos from top creators and not video with the most views.
