Manually Install Extensions on Edge Browser

Follow the steps below to know how you can install extensions on Microsoft Edge browsers that are not available on the official Windows Store. Make sure that you have downloaded the extension from your preferred source onto your PC.

  1. Launch Microsoft Edge browser on your PC.
  2. Now, click on the 3-dot menu icon on the top-right corner.
  3. You need to select the Extensions option.

  5. Then you need to click the Load unpacked option, as shown in the image.

  6. Browse the folder where you have downloaded the extension. After selecting, hit the Select folder button. (You can also drag and drop the *.crx file)
  7. The extension will then load up on the Microsoft Edge browser, and it will work just like any other extension that you have downloaded from the official store.

The good thing about loading an extension from other sources is that, unlike regular extensions, there is an additional option, “Reload extension,” for extensions installed from outside the official store to reload the extension if it runs into trouble or is not able to load properly.
