Verizon’s iPhone Duo pre-order delays are real, and a $100 gift card is the apology

Verizon iPhone Duo Delay: $100 Gift Card for Late Pre-Orders

Some Verizon customers who pre-ordered the iPhone Duo are getting emails saying the phone will arrive late, and Verizon is sending a $100 gift card as an apology. MacRumors reported on October 24, 2026 that revised delivery dates for affected orders mostly fall between October 31 and November 14. If your Verizon iPhone Duo delay started with a launch day that came and went without a box, the email at least explains what Verizon says happened and what it is offering to make up for it.

TL;DR: Verizon is telling some iPhone Duo pre-order customers that an unexpected shipping delay will push their delivery back, and it is sending a $100 gift card by email. Many revised dates land between October 31 and November 14, though some buyers did get their phone on October 23. Verizon says your place in line has not changed, and you can check the status of your order in My Verizon.

What the Verizon iPhone Duo delay email says

MacRumors reported on a reader’s slipped iPhone Duo pre-order and quoted the email Verizon sent him. In it, Verizon wrote, “We owe you an apology,” and blamed an “unexpected shipping delay” that means some deliveries will “take a little longer.”

The email also says, “Your order is secure, your place in line hasn’t changed.” Verizon offers a $100 Verizon gift card as compensation, usable online or in a store for bill payments or merchandise, and the card is due by email the following week.

A gift card is a reasonable gesture, but it does not change the day the phone shows up. The bigger question is how long the wait runs.

How long the Verizon iPhone Duo delay could last

The same report says the revised delivery dates it has seen mostly fall between October 31 and November 14. One reader who ordered on October 16 was first quoted October 23, then told November 7.

Verizon’s own iPhone Duo offers page listed October 16 for pre-orders and October 23 for stores, so the original promise was clear. Apple’s launch announcement says availability began October 23 for the first wave of countries and reaches 28 more on October 30.

Not everyone is caught up in this. MacRumors notes that some Verizon customers did receive their phone on launch day, which makes the delay look uneven rather than carrier wide. That unevenness is why checking your own order matters.

What to do while your order is delayed

Start with the My Orders page on the My Verizon website or app, which is where the email sends customers to check their order.

Use the wait for setup. The iPhone Duo has no SIM tray, so our eSIM checklist covers what to sort out before the phone arrives. Our iPhone Duo buying guide is also worth a second read while you wait.

It is also worth keeping an eye on the Verizon gift card email, since MacRumors’ report does not say how to claim it beyond waiting for the message.

What Verizon has not said about delayed pre-orders

Neither Verizon’s email, as MacRumors quotes it, nor the offers page says whether a delay changes promotional credits, trade-in timing, or the $72 a month Simplicity plan deal, which Verizon lists as $42 for the phone and $30 for service over 48 months. I could not find a statement either way.

If you are planning to send in a trade-in phone, it is worth asking Verizon before you do, because that is the step you cannot easily undo. Apple lists October 23 as availability, but no one has published stock figures I can verify, so check pickup availability before you cancel anything.
