New streaming releases this week (June 30 to July 5, 2026): Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Hulu, Max, and more

New streaming releases this ween June 30 to July 5

This week is the first real opener of summer 2026 on streaming. Three separate platforms are dropping headline originals on July 1 alone, which does not happen often. X-Men ’97 Season 2 arrives on Disney+ with a three-episode premiere, Enola Holmes 3 lands on Netflix as a full movie drop, and Prime Video launches Elle, the Legally Blonde prequel series, with all eight episodes at once. The new streaming releases this week hit across every major US platform, and the list runs deeper than those three.

There is also a wave of library content arriving on July 1 across Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video that changes the catalog for the rest of the month. Everything confirmed as of June 30 is listed below, organized by platform and format.

TL;DR: July 1 is the busiest single day. X-Men ’97 Season 2 opens with three episodes on Disney+ before going weekly on Wednesdays. Enola Holmes 3 (Netflix) and Elle (Prime Video, all 8 episodes) both drop the same day. Ready or Not 2 makes its streaming debut on Hulu on July 2. Survival of the Thickest Season 3 lands on Netflix on July 2 as the show’s final run.

Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97 Season 2 picks up directly after the Genosha massacre that closed out the first season. The team is scattered across different eras in time, while Apocalypse moves in the background of the 1990s timeline they left behind. The three-episode opening is the first time any Marvel animated series has launched with more than two episodes at once, which Marvel confirmed in its official Disney+ press release ahead of the premiere.

Season 1 holds a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes and became one of Disney+’s biggest animated hits in years. The voice cast returns in full: Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Lenore Zann as Rogue, and George Buza as Beast. New characters this season include Archangel, Psylocke, Exodus, and Polaris.

Editor’s note: Three episodes on day one is the right call. Season 1’s serialized structure made individual weekly episodes feel too short to build real momentum, and the premiere drop fixes that problem without giving away the whole season at once. The weekly cadence after July 1 should keep the show in conversation through August. Worth clearing your Wednesday evenings for.

Enola Holmes 3 on Netflix (July 1): full movie drop

Premiere dateJuly 1, 2026
Runtime1 hour 45 minutes
RatingPG-13
Requires subscriptionYes, Netflix (from $7.99/mo with ads)

Millie Bobby Brown returns as Enola Holmes in the third film, which takes the young detective to Malta. The plot kicks off mid-wedding prep: Enola is about to marry Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge) when Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill) disappears and she has to drop everything to find him. Helena Bonham Carter is back as their mother Eudoria, and the runtime is the shortest of the three films at 1 hour 45 minutes.

The first two films performed well on Netflix by its own engagement metrics. Enola Holmes 1 drew 189.9 million hours watched in its first 28 days, and the second film pulled 158 million hours over four weeks in the global top 10. A third installment was expected for a while. This one lands without a theatrical window, going straight to Netflix on day one.

Editor’s note: The tighter runtime is probably a feature, not a compromise. The first film ran over two hours and felt it in the third act. If the Malta setting gives the production a visual lift, this could be the cleanest entry in the series. Low expectations are your friend here.

Elle on Prime Video (July 1): Legally Blonde prequel, all 8 episodes

Requires subscriptionYes, Prime Video (from $8.99/mo)

Elle is a prequel series set in 1995 Seattle, following Elle Woods before Harvard Law, before the pink wardrobe was a statement, and before she figured out who she wanted to be. Lexi Minetree plays the teenage version of the character Reese Witherspoon made iconic. June Diane Raphael plays her mother Eva, Tom Everett Scott plays her father Wyatt, and Reese Witherspoon executive produces through Hello Sunshine.

Prime Video ordered Season 2 before Season 1 even premiered, which signals confidence in the show’s commercial positioning. The original Legally Blonde film came from Amazon MGM Studios parent company, so the IP sits cleanly in house. Creator Laura Kittrell previously worked on Insecure and High School, two shows with sharp character writing. Whether that carries over is the question, but the official Prime Video announcement puts this as one of the streamer’s biggest July bets.

Editor’s note: The 1995 Seattle setting is doing a lot of work here. Flannel, rain, high school social hierarchies, and a protagonist who is too pink for all of it is a reasonable premise. Whether it lands depends almost entirely on Lexi Minetree. Eight episodes is also a reasonable commitment if the first two episodes hold.

Ready or Not 2 on Hulu (July 2): streaming debut

Premiere dateJuly 2, 2026
Release formatFull movie, available on demand
Requires subscriptionYes, Hulu (from $7.99/mo with ads)

The original Ready or Not from 2019 became a cult favourite with fans of dark horror-comedy, largely on the strength of Samara Weaving’s performance and a brutal third act. The sequel arrives on Hulu on July 2, making it available to stream without an additional rental charge for anyone with a subscription.

Editor’s note: The original earned its reputation. Whether the sequel can hold up the same energy without the novelty factor of the premise is the real question. Worth watching on a Friday night if you have Hulu and liked the first film.

Survival of the Thickest Season 3 on Netflix (July 2): final season

Michelle Buteau’s comedy-drama about Mavis, a stylist navigating a new chapter after a breakup, returns for its third and final season. Season 3 finds Mavis and Luca starting a family. The show has been a quiet Netflix performer, appreciated for its tone and Buteau’s energy, and a three-season run is a clean ending for a series of this size.

Editor’s note: If you never started this one, three complete seasons available to binge at once is actually a decent weekend plan. The comedy-drama format sits comfortably between something sharp and something easy to watch. Final seasons of shows in this format rarely disappoint.

The pick this week

X-Men ’97 Season 2 is the clearest priority. The first season was one of the most genuinely surprising animated shows in years and earned its reputation episode by episode. Starting with three episodes gives the new season room to reestablish the characters and stakes before settling into its weekly schedule. Watch it first, then decide whether Enola Holmes 3 or Elle fits your Saturday.

Frequently Asked Questions
