Apple says nearly 100 parts in the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro are made in the US

Apple American Manufacturing Program Adds iPhone Duo Suppliers

Apple announced on October 20, 2026 that it has added new and expanded American Manufacturing Program partners for the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro. According to Apple, nearly 100 components in the two phones are made by U.S. companies, drawn from suppliers in more than a dozen states.

The announcement is about supply, not pricing or ship dates. What it does show is which parts of a very expensive phone Apple now wants to call American, from the titanium frame to the glass over your screen.

TL;DR: Apple’s October 20 announcement names the U.S. suppliers behind the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro, including Perryman for titanium, Corning for cover glass, Coherent for Face ID lasers and Broadcom for radio chips. Nearly 100 components come from American companies. The release does not say where the phones are assembled or what they cost.

What the American Manufacturing Program now covers

Apple launched the program in 2025 as part of its $600 billion, four year U.S. manufacturing and innovation commitment. This update centers on Perryman and Qnity Electronics, with progress reports from Broadcom, Corning, Coherent, TSMC and Amkor.

Here is the full list as Apple describes it.

Titanium and glass carry the foldable story

Perryman’s Houston, Pennsylvania site melts, forges and rolls the titanium for the iPhone Duo’s grade 5 titanium enclosure, using at least 80% recycled content. Apple credits that enclosure with the durability of its first foldable.

Corning is the quieter number. By the end of 2026, Apple says all iPhone cover glass, including the Duo’s, will come from Corning’s Harrodsburg, Kentucky facility, and Apple Watch cover glass moves there too.

Frame and glass are the two parts that decide whether a phone survives a sidewalk drop. That makes this the least glamorous and most useful part of the list. The next question is what sits behind that glass.

Camera films and Face ID lasers inside the Pro

Qnity Electronics makes advanced films for the variable aperture system in the iPhone 18 Pro camera, which Apple pairs with its 48MP Fusion Main camera. If you want the camera in context, our iPhone 18 Pro vs 17 Pro comparison covers how it stacks up.

Coherent supplies the VCSEL laser technology from Sherman, Texas, used for Face ID and the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.

The chip supply chain behind the phones

Broadcom is modernizing its Fort Collins facility under a $1.5 billion investment first announced in July, with a multiyear agreement to produce more than 15 billion U.S.-made chips. TSMC’s Arizona fab made more than 100 million chips for Apple in 2026.

Amkor broke ground on its Peoria packaging and test facility in September 2025, and Apple will be one of its first customers. Phases 1 and 2 are expected to support more than 3,500 local hires.

Not every chip in these phones is on this list. Nearly 100 components is a meaningful share, but Apple does not say what fraction of the phone that represents.

Houston is the detail to watch

Apple opened its Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston, Texas in August 2026, a 20,000 square foot site where Apple engineers train small and medium-sized businesses. It sits within the same Houston facility that builds Apple’s advanced AI servers, and Apple says that facility will begin manufacturing Mac mini this year.

Sabih Khan, Apple’s chief operating officer, put it this way: “American ingenuity is vital to all our products.” Apple says it works with suppliers in all 50 states and supports more than 450,000 U.S. jobs.

A supplier list is not the same as a promise about final assembly, and Apple does not make that promise here. If you are still choosing between phones, our iPhone Duo battery label breakdown covers the practical side.
