Apple released iOS 27.2 on October 26, 2026, and the headline change is that Siri AI now works in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, alongside English. The update also carries a long list of security fixes, so it is worth installing even if you never talk to Siri.
If your iPhone is set to one of those languages, you can now try the redesigned Siri in it. It is still labeled a beta, though, and a few limits, including a block in the EU, decide who actually gets to use it.
TL;DR: iOS 27.2 arrived October 26, 2026 with Siri AI beta support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, and four more languages are due by the end of the year. Siri AI is still unavailable in the EU and has daily usage limits that Apple says will become a paid tier later. The same release patches roughly 160 security issues, so most iPhone 11 and later owners should update.
What iOS 27.2 changes for Siri AI
Apple’s newsroom describes Siri AI as a redesigned Siri built on Apple Intelligence. It can search personal context such as messages, emails and photos, take more actions inside apps, respond to what is on screen, and draw on general world knowledge.
Apple says the 27.2 software updates add the beta in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, with English included. Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese are listed as coming by the end of the year.
If you have been reading about the new Siri while your phone sits in another language, this is the update that closes that gap. Availability is where the fine print starts.
Where Siri AI still will not work
Siri AI needs an Apple Intelligence enabled device, with both Siri and the device language set to a supported language. Apple also says it is not available to users under 13.
In the EU, Siri AI is currently unavailable on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. Apple says it is working constructively with the EU to find a path forward, which is not the same as a date.
Features that rely on server side models, Siri AI among them, have daily usage limits that vary by feature, request complexity and system demand. Apple adds that expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future. That line is the one to remember, because it suggests the free allowance is a starting point rather than a promise.
The same update is also doing quieter work underneath.
The security fixes inside iOS 27.2
Apple’s security notes for iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 are dated October 26, 2026 and cover iPhone 11 and later, plus a range of supported iPads that includes the iPad mini 6th generation and later.
The page lists roughly 160 CVE entries. WebKit, the engine behind Safari, has the largest group, followed by the kernel, and the entries are mostly memory safety bugs alongside some privacy and sandbox issues.
The notes do not flag any of the bugs as actively exploited, so this reads as routine patching rather than an emergency. WebKit fixes still matter in practice, because that code handles ordinary web pages you open every day.
Which brings it back to what you should do with the update.
How to get Siri AI in your language
Install the update from Settings, then General, then Software Update. For Siri AI, set both the device language and the Siri language to one of the supported options, because Apple says both have to match.
The Siri AI beta also appears in iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2, per the same newsroom post. Not a dramatic change, but an honest one: a beta that finally speaks more people’s language, with its limits stated up front.
