How to See Deleted Reddit Posts

Users use online social media forums such as Reddit to share news stories and other content. It’s no wonder Reddit is so popular among nerds. I’ve found it to be an excellent resource for learning about almost every aspect of human knowledge.

There are many subreddits to browse, including those about philosophy, languages, coding, molecular gastronomy, and whatever else catches your interest. But there’s one issue if you delete any post, you can’t see it further, even in the archive section. Well, that’s the reason why we are here. In this article, you will learn how to see deleted Reddit posts.

Top Ways to Check Deleted Reddit Posts

There are no direct methods in the Reddit app or website using which you can see deleted Reddit posts. But there are ways that you can use to do so. Let’s check them out:

1. Unddit

To view deleted Reddit comments, use Unddit. You can revive dead comments and threads by adding a bookmark to your browser. Here’s how Unddit can show you display removed (by mods) and deleted (by users) comments/posts for Reddit.

1. Visit the Unddit page.
2. Press Ctrl+Shift+B to view the bookmark bar, and then drag this bookmarklet: Unddit to the bar and click it when viewing a Reddit post.
   
3. You will be able to see deleted comments on Reddit posts..

Alternatively, you can manually replace the www.reddit.com in the URL with undelete.pullpush.io.
E.g. https://undelete.pullpush.io/r/mac/comments/1j6ckzq/how_to_install_chrome_extensions_on_safari_for_mac/

Note: But Unddit only works if the post was indexed while still live, or if Pushshift had the data cached. Since 2023, Unddit’s functionality has been limited or inconsistent.

2. Resavr

Resavr is perfect for seeing deleted Reddit comments on posts. There are two types of deleted comments: those that have been recently erased and those that you can search by Reddit username or post title in the Deleted comments list. In general, the site crawls only short comments. You can use Resavr in the following steps:

1. Visit resavr.com.
2. In the top-right search bar, enter the post title or Reddit username.
3. You can click on a search result to find more information.

Note: Resavr only tracks short comments (i.e., over 650 characters). It does not cover all deleted comments and can’t retrieve posts.

3. Wayback Machine

With the Wayback Machine, you can access archived versions of web pages to access deleted Reddit posts and comments. You can also retrieve deleted content from Reddit with it, even though it is primarily used for taking snapshots of websites. You can use the Wayback Machine by following these steps:

1. Visit Wayback Machine’s website.
2. Make a copy of the URL of the Reddit post that contains the content you want to retrieve. Use the Wayback Machine’s search bar and paste the URL. Then, tap on Browse History.
3. On the results page, you can see when and how often a web page was saved.
4. To find deleted content, select older dates.
5. When you click on any of the dates, you’ll be taken to a saved version of the post for that date.

4. Reveddit

You can view deleted posts and comments on Reveddit by following these steps:

1. Visit Reveddit.
2. You can copy the user name, subreddit, or post link and paste it in the given field, and then click go.
3. To view comments, scroll through the archived page. In Reveddit, users can check whether a user has been deleted by a bot or a mod.
4. To find a deleted comment, click the blue Restore button after Reveddit’s archiving. There is no limit to how many times a user can click before the content appears.

Note: Reveddit only shows content removed by moderators, not by the original poster.

5. Google Cache

There is a chance that a post that has been removed from Reddit may still exist on Google Cache if it has been removed from Reddit. When you search for the post in Google and click on the small green arrow next to the URL, you will see whether it is available. It might be possible for you to see the post if Google has cached a version of the page.

1. On mobile devices, you should use Google Chrome’s web version.
2. Click the three-dot icon and then select a Desktop site on Chrome mobile.
3. Use the post’s URL or the poster’s Reddit username to locate it.
4. To open the correct search result, click the three-dot icon.
5. On the side menu, click Cached, located at the bottom.
   
6. It is possible to see whether Google archived the page before the deletion or if it was recently deleted.

Note: Google Cache can help recover recently deleted Reddit posts but is less reliable for comments or older content.

Viewing deleted Reddit comments and posts may be inappropriate, considering someone removed them for a reason. Some content has gone missing over time, but thanks to third-party archiving tools, you can revive them again.
