Galaxy S25 owners on Verizon can now install One UI 9, and it brings Android 17

Galaxy S25 One UI 9 Update Rolls Out on Verizon

The Galaxy S25 One UI 9 update is now live on Verizon, with Samsung’s Android 17 software landing on the S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra on October 2, 2026. Verizon’s support pages list the build for each model, and all three carry the September 2026 security patch.

If you bought an S25 last year, this is the first time your phone gets the redesigned software that Galaxy S26 owners have had since September 16, 2026.

TL;DR: Verizon’s own pages show One UI 9 on the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra as System Update 22, released October 2, 2026. It adds My FanCam, new Now Brief cards, Call Brief and Creative Studio suggestions. The Z Fold7 page still lists only a September security update, so foldable owners should keep waiting.

What the Galaxy S25 One UI 9 update includes

Verizon lists the update as System Update 22 and says it delivers “the latest Android OS 17 and One UI 9.0 features including My FanCam, Now Brief, Call Brief, and improvements to user experience.” The same wording appears on the Galaxy S25 page, the S25+ page and the S25 Ultra page.

Each model gets its own build number. The S25 Ultra build ends in S938USQUCDZIF, and Verizon puts the estimated download at 6 to 10 minutes, with a similar window for installation.

Galaxy S25+October 2, 2026S936USQUCDZIFSeptember 2026
Galaxy S25 UltraOctober 2, 2026S938USQUCDZIFSeptember 2026
Galaxy Z Fold7No One UI 9 listed; latest entry September 1, 2026—August 2026

The previous S25 Ultra update, System Update 21, arrived September 2, 2026. That gap is why this one feels larger than a routine patch.

The new features you will notice first

My FanCam is the headline addition. Verizon describes it as a tool that “automatically tracks a selected person in a recorded video and keeps them centered,” which suits concerts, school sports and anything else shot from the back of a crowd.

Now Brief gets generative and editable cards, so you choose what shows up in your daily summary across health, weather and video. Samsung’s own U.S. newsroom post adds Now Nudge, Document Scan changes, Security Brief and Privacy Alerts to the One UI 9 feature list. Verizon’s S25 notes do not mention those, so their presence on the S25 is not confirmed.

Call Brief puts relevant events and details on the call screen. Creative Studio now suggests image ideas tied to upcoming events such as birthdays.

None of this is about speed or battery. It is a feature drop, and the question is whether you will use it. Our breakdown of One UI 9 features beyond Android 17 shows how much of the software is Samsung’s own layer rather than Google’s.

Where the Galaxy Z Fold7 stands

The Galaxy Z Fold7 does not appear to be part of this Verizon wave yet. Its Verizon support page shows System Update 15, released September 1, 2026, described only as the latest Android security patches.

That could change within days, and carrier pages are not a roadmap. Samsung’s newsroom says only that the update is “expected to gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices,” with no timeline attached. I did not check Verizon’s Z Flip7 page.

My own read is that staggered carrier timing is normal for Samsung, but it makes the first week confusing for anyone comparing notes with friends on other networks.

How to prepare before you tap install

Verizon’s instructions are plain: connect to Wi-Fi or a strong Verizon signal, and fully charge the battery first. You can start the update from Settings, let it download over Wi-Fi automatically, or wait for a notification on the phone.

A major OS jump is a good moment to back up photos and app data, even though the instructions do not require it. The software update section in Settings is the quickest way to see whether your phone has been offered the build yet.

What S25 owners on other networks should expect

Everything above comes from Verizon’s pages, so it applies to Verizon models. Unlocked phones and other carriers can have different build numbers and different dates, and the pages I checked say nothing about them.

Samsung began the official One UI 9 rollout on the S26 line on September 16, 2026, and the S25 family now follows about two weeks later. That is a short wait for a previous generation flagship, though foldable owners may feel it differently until their own pages update.
